The bizarre concept of government-enforced isolation has bought on the tracksuit revival we never knew we needed. While the 2000’s saw the iconic velour Juicy Couture tracksuits take hold, this new decade has welcomed a world of influencers wearing matching cozy tracksuit sets in crisp white and marle grey.

As COVID-19 has made way for a new way of life – which is often bra-less and pants-less – many of us have adopted loungewear as our daily uniform. Now new Melbourne label rêveur is set to launch tomorrow to help see us through the rest of winter.

The brand’s first drop features unisex matching tracksuit sets, embroidered with rêveur de jour (day dreamer) in baby pink, grey, black and white, along with classic cut t-shirts and caps.

Founder Caitlyn Cameron explained the inspiration behind rêveur came after struggling to find classic wardrobe staples at the right price. High-end Australian brands like Camilla & Marc or P.E Nation have made a name for themselves selling luxury lounge and activewear for upwards of $200.

“I noticed a niche in the market for timeless basics at an affordable price,” Caitlyn said.

“I was either spending an entire pay-check on a single staple piece or they were falling apart after one wash. Starting rêveur for me was a way of injecting interchangeable, comfortable and affordable clothes into the market.”

While the pandemic has made for less than ideal conditions to launch a new brand, the 22-year-old says she’s optimistic in trying to find a place for her designs in this new and complicated market.

“COVID-19 played on the pieces that are in the first collection, as they are predominately loungewear which suited the self-isolation theme because if everyone is like me, it’s essentially all I’ve been wearing! Whether it’s your WFH uniform, zoom meeting outfit or a fashion statement to the shops; the sets are the perfect fashion statement to suit the climate we find ourselves in at the moment,” she said.

With a summer collection already in the works, Caitlyn has plans to across the simplicity and comfort of across each drop, teasing ideas of resortwear and terry toweling.

For now, you can get your hands on rêveur’s first collection tomorrow morning at 11am AEST.
